(Deuteronomy
6:4-5) (4)
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
(5)
and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy might.“
A
pleasant greeting to the SAINTS OF
GOD. We the Directors for “MESSAGE
OF THE SWORD MINISTRIES” bring you GLAD TIDINGS in the name of our LORD and SAVIOUR
JESUS CHRIST. Today we continue with our “Devotions with
Bro. Lendor”. The topic today is entitled “Persecution”.
Who amongst us likes to be harassed, maligned, ignored, treated as
pariah’s? Family members and friends no
longer giving the assistance once easily rendered. The human nature has an
affinity for company however, when the call of Christ is received a choice must
be made. Christ called his disciples, they had a decision to make, Jesus said,
Matthew 8:20. “And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have
holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where
to lay his head.” No servant is greater than his master
if they did it unto him, they shall do it unto us as well. The following are
biblical recommendations for this issue;
(a) Psalm
34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him
out of them all.
(b) 2 Corth. 4:8-10. 8. We are troubled on every side, yet not
distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not
forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the
dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in
our body.
(c) Matthew 5:10. Blessed
are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
(d) Matthew 5:44. But
I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
(e) 1 Peter 4:13. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are
partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye
may be glad also with exceeding joy.
(f) Consider
Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness,
and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the
oil of gladness above thy fellows.
(g) Jeremiah 1:19 And they shall fight against
thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the
LORD, to deliver thee.
(h) Psalm 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the
terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
(i) Proverbs 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he
hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
(j) Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with
thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will
help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
(k) Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue
that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the
heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith
the LORD.
(l) Zechariah 9:16 And the LORD their God shall
save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the
stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.
There are those claiming to be children of God whose course of action
the Lord does not justify. Faithful work is to be done in giving reproof, as
well as in giving encouragement. The cross is not to be shunned. No
un-christlike course of action to your brethren is to be justified. The time is
right upon us when persecution will come to those who proclaim the truth. Those
who teach the truth, opening the Word of God to others, must surrender self
entirely to God. To them the truth will bring its own reward, filling the soul
with joy.
and forsaking their sins, that they may receive the forgiveness and favor of
God, and come into complete harmony with Him? It is not because of a lack of
evidence that sinners perish, but because of their unwillingness to appropriate
the means whereby God designs they shall learn His will. The ignorance of many
is voluntary and inexcusable.
up our efforts to save those who have had an experience but are ready to
perish, for whose ransom the Prince of heaven offered up His precious life.
When one means fails, try another way. Our efforts must not be dead and
lifeless. As long as life is spared, let us work for God. In all ages of the
church God’s appointed messengers have exposed themselves to reproach and
persecution for the truth’s sake. But wherever God’s people may be forced to
go, even though, like the beloved disciple, they are banished to desert
islands, Christ will know where they are, and will strengthen and bless them,
filling them with peace and joy.
seek to know God. We have no time to delay. With earnestness and fervor the
message must be given: “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
and he that hath no money: come ye, buy wine and milk without money and without
price.” Isaiah 55:1.
Respectfully Yours.
